Tenugui is Japanese term for a piece of cotton cloth. Dyeing method is called ''Chusen-zome'' that dates back to the Meiji Period more then 100 years ago and it is still conducted by hand. 
The both edges are deliverately left open without being sewn. This is considered to get dry faster in the natural air. Due to its weaving construction, it will get softer and softer by washing.
The size of Tenugui is more of less fixed: approximately 33cm wide x 90cm long. The usage is diverse: can be used as dish cloths, hand towels, table set, body washing towels, for wrapping, bandanas, or even as scarves.
