SHINTO TOWEL

It was in 2018, when I encountered SHINTO TOWEL.
The young owner of SHINTO TOWEL, Takashi Shinto, is the 5th generation in their family business founded in 1907. A cotton gauze towel from Germany was brought to their region at that time and that was the starting point that they choose their path with the gauze instead of the pile as their towel.

While respecting the tradition and making the best out of it, the constant innovation is indispensable. Takashi was convinced to inherit his family business at his early age and after the formal succession, he’s been engaged in perfecting the quality in terms of design, material and weaving technique.

SHINTO TOWEL is not only optically fulfilling, but also very functional: all of the towel collections by Shinto Towel is very light, extra-absorbent, and quick-drying.

The collection of SHINTO TOWEL comes in three qualities: 2.5-ply Gauze Towel, YUKINE, and Inner Pile Towel.

2.5-ply Gauze Towel is the signature towel of SHINTO TOWEL - needless to say, they are very light, extra-absorbent, and quick-drying.

Besides, this line is flexible in size. 2.5-ply Gauze Towel comes not only in Japanese small size, but also the bigger (European) size. In order to make the quality of the texture maximised, this size of 2.5-ply Gauze Towel can be woven only 20 pieces per day.

2.5-ply Gauze Towel comes in 4 colours and 4 sizes.

Inner Pile Towel is a piece of art: this unique structure of three layers of fabrics, two gauzes on top and bottom, and one pile in the middle, was realised by the oldest craftsman, who’s been working for SHINTO TOWEL from Takashi’s father’s generation - he dug into all settings and functions of the vintage shuttle loom machine from the late 1800s and made this one-of-kind texture realised.

Inner Pile Towel comes in 3 colours and 2 sizes.

YUKINE is only pile towel which SHINTO TOWEL
produces.
Seeking for lightness is their significant concept. Despite the pile, YUKINE is very light and soft, and its appearance and touch are just as the name of YUKINE (YUKI=snow, NE=sound).

YUKINE towel comes in 4 colours and 3 sizes, and newly they launched beautiful bathmat.
