Producer Visit - DI SER Parfum
It was the day of the highest temperature in August, when I visited Yasuyuki, the founder of DI SER perfume in Sapporo. He invited me to his forest and field where he grows the plants with the natural circulating agricultural method and become the ingredient for his perfumes.
In the middle of forest, he built a laboratory combined with a house. In this morning, he explained to me why he built it. At end of the day, the theme of this meeting became much more than a perfume.
He is not only a perfumer and entrepreneur, but also is a visionary who actually realises what imagined for the future. Suppling energy, water, and food independently and sharing them at community level will be the future standard, he assures. Indeed this house supplies water from the underground: one coming from 25m deep is used for a drinking water (and also for the perfume!), another from 100m deep is to heat the entire house well enough to survive the hard winter in Sapporo. He provides electricity from *solar, grows vegetables in the field, and only what he can’t grow by himself, such as rice and wheat, he buys from his farmer friends. In this way, each household can be independent from outside and for what can’t be produced by themselves, they can share within the community.
‘‘The theme of this place is the unite of nature and science which assures the independence and safety of living of the future. Living at the community level will be the future standard. Even if this movement seems small right now, it will contribute a real change in the future.’’ he added.
*At the moment the solar energy is partly used.
Yasuyuki and rose field. A gentle breeze comes through.
In his forest grows a variety of plants. Inside the blue nets, the protection from deers, he grows a different kind of vegetables.
I understand now why his perfumes has such a strong energy: because it’s backed by his positive will for the future.
This kind of the way of living is an art of life.
