NEW: Incense stick: 2500BC - Kyphi

This incense is named after the original incense from Ancient Egypt, Kyphi.

Kyphi is considered as holy smoke or sacred perfume to cleanse the air and spirit. In Ancient Egypt, incense played an important role as an offering to the gods. Among them, Kyphi was valued as a spiritual fragrance used in sacred ceremonies and kings' funerals. In the oldest medical book in Egypt, Ebers Papyrus, Kyphi is described as being made from about 16 natural ingredients.

The receipt of Kyphi varies slightly depending on the perfumers - in this way, Khphi is rather considered as a type of incense than as one specific receipt.

Typical ingredients of Kyphi include cinnamon, peppermint, lemongrass, acacia, calamus, raisins, henna, juniper, pistachios, pine resin, cassia, orange, rose, honey, wine, myrrh, and frankincense.
